York, England • 18 November 2017

We met at a part time job in Zara, the clothing shop! He came back from university to his home town York every summer break and I was attending York college. The moment I saw Laurence, I knew he was going to be in my life somehow. I nervously introduced myself as quickly as possible, embarrassingly keen, and we immediately became best friends, spending that summer in each other’s pockets.

THE PROPOSAL

Laurence had planned a two and a half week summer road trip for us. France was of course the destination as we’ve always both been obsessed with the country. We took our Fiat 500 convertible across the border and travelled from north, to west, to south and back up north. A few days in we hit the most beautiful place, Arcachon. Think sun, sand dunes and the sea. Loz and I scrambled to the highest sand dune possible to watch the sun set one evening with a bottle of champagne. After admiring the pink hues over the sea I insisted we pop the bubbles. Loz then proceeded to say, “Well if we are going to open this, there’s something I want to ask you first..” Of course I said Yes!

THE DAY

We wanted our day to be as "unweddingy" as possible tough romantic, chic, and most importantly full of laughter and love. We chose to have a very small ceremony with 24 of our closest family friends at our local registry office suite in York. I nervously walked in, eyes filling up and tightly gripped arm in arm with my Dad to our favourite piano piece, “The River Flows in You” by Yiruma. After the readings, a simple “I do”, and with new rings on our fingers, we were married!

With my new husband by my side, we made our way to the Grange Hotel for dinner and drinks, indulging and laughing our way through the late afternoon glow. An evening of music and celebration then followed through to the end of the night.

THE OUTFIT

I wore the Palermo and Grace combination by Oui The Label. I adored the fact it was a two piece rather than a dress - very modern with a romantic twist. I absolutely loved the mesh, the embroidery and of course the button down back. The skirt felt divine to wear. It was heavy in the best way and simple but feminine. I felt pretty and powerful as soon as I got dressed!

My denim jacket, crown and shoes were all from ASOS - understated with a feminine twist.

HONEYMOON

We honeymooned in Paris of course! On arriving we dropped our bags, jushed up our hair and headed to a gig around the corner to see Fleet Foxes at Le Trianon. It was the best first night! We spent the rest of the week walking for miles and stopping for coffee (or beer!) in the low sun. We also treated ourselves to lunch on the roof top of the Peninsula Hotel, with the Eiffel Tower in view.
