HOW WE MET
Fraser and I started with a swipe right for each other! On my 21st birthday we shared a drunken phone call, and the rest is history. Straight away we were obsessed with each other but after only three weeks of knowing one another Fraser went to America for the summer as a support leader. The time apart was difficult but it only made us realise how much we liked each other, we have been inseparable since!
THE PROPOSAL
We went to Edinburgh during Covid for a weekend away, as you couldn’t really travel at the time! We spent the day playing games and walking around the city stopping off for drinks. When we got back to the hotel, Fraser insisted I have a shower and relax before we went out for dinner. When I came out of the bathroom I was greeted by rose petals and candles, our first dance was playing (Bob Marley - is this love) and Fraser opened a bottle of champagne. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I couldn’t believe he asked me while I was in a towel, but he did this because he knew I’m a big crier and he didn’t want to ruin my make–up!
THE DAY
Everything about it was amazing! I’m lucky enough that through work I’ve met some of the most precious people to me, who are also very talented in the hair and make-up industry. So the environment to get ready as a nervous bride was perfect and relaxed! We got married in a church that is very special to Fraser and seeing him tear as I walked down the aisle was everything I could have wished for. Our friends and family were so excited as we’ve been together 8 years so the whole venue was full of love as everyone stood around listening to our live singer and taking in the beautiful views of our venue.
WILLOW AND WHITE
As soon as I walked in I felt relaxed with Natasha. I’d only previously been to one shop and the experience felt pushy so I was a little apprehensive. Natasha let me try on a plethora of dresses; big, small, sequins to simple. The shop is absolutely stunning in itself and she’s created the perfect atmosphere. My wedding dress was not something I would have pictured myself in, but when I tried it on Natasha could tell I knew I’d found the one, she allowed me to have a minute and soak the moment in before showing my mum, grandma and maid of honour and gauge their reaction. We all fell in love! I have sent two of my friends to Willow and White since!
OUTFIT AND ACCESSORIES
As soon as I put my dress on, I knew it was for me! I always knew I wanted something simple, but every time I tried a slip dress on I didn’t feel bridal enough and every time I tried a big dress on I felt too much. Phoenix was the perfect mixture of the two! I felt like a bride without feeling too far away from me, who I am day to day. My grandma picked out the pearl veil and I felt it added that perfect extra detail and drama as I walked down the aisle. I paired my look with a simple double drop pearl earring from Lily & Roo, so that when the veil came off I still had elements of my original look.
