HOW WE MET
Colby and I met at the gym, he walked in and I immediately thought he was the most handsome man I'd ever seen. We were both training for our surf club, which he had just joined. We were friends for about a year, all the while sensing there were sparks between us. Eventually, we got together and the rest is history.
THE PROPOSAL
Colby drove me up to a huge gum tree on a family property in Auburn, SA. He simply called my name and as I turned around, he was on one knee, ring in hand. He'd organised some of my favourite drinks to have under the tree together afterwards.
THE DAY
Perfect weather. Auburn, Clare Valley SA. Married beneath the very gumtree where Colby had proposed. The tree is in the middle of an open paddock with an olive orchard connected.
Reception was at the top of the paddock on a hill. Marquee on the lawn that Colby planted and watered for months prior to the wedding. All decorations handmade by Colby and myself, with lots of personal touches.
We had a live band (Baker Boys Band) and a brilliant party atmosphere. High heels came off early and lots of drinks and amazing food were had!!
Guests were able to camp amongst the olive orchard or stay in local accommodation with recovery the following day at the reception location with a coffee van and bbq breakfast.
THE OUTFIT AND ACCESSORIES
I had no idea what style of dress I was looking for, I just tried on multiple styles. Once I tried on the Oui gown, I couldn't get it out of my head. I kept looking at photos. I went to a couple of other bookings afterwards but just wanted to try it on again. The second time I put it on, I knew that it was THE dress!! I loved it! The quirks of the layers of the skirt, the unique neckline. Stunning!!
DEAR COLBY,
Colby. When I think about us, the word that comes to my mind is lucky. Lucky that you even liked me, lucky that you fell in love with me just as much as I fell in love with you. I’m lucky to be welcomed into such a beautiful family. Lucky that I’m the one who gets to grow old and wrinkly with you. And I feel like I must owe someone a really big favour because every single day I think to myself “how did I get so lucky?”
DEAR REGAN,
Regan, I love you. Not only for who you are, but what we've become together. Putting one foot in front of the other is better when it's done side by side. We share our lives, half our problems and double our love together. Be yourself always, I fell in love with it all. The beauty, the quirks, the intelligence.
